Chronicles of UWM

Hmm.. I was in the Operating Systems class when there was a question on "what happens when a read and write to the same location in memory takes place" ? I answered it as "hazard" and the professor was like "what was that?", i repeated "hazard" and he was like letting his ear out and asked me again, "whats that ?" some one in the class had to help me out and said "hazard"... Same thing? not really, it was having my indian accent in which i said "ha-zard" while he understood only when it was said "haz-ard"... Embarrassing incident. Coz, i knew that it was to be pronounced as "haz-ard" in USA, but instincts prevailed. Anyways, it surprises me that native speakers of English can not understand the variations in English! Hmm..
